Spirited away, Ikea, Women of Manhattan
Oct. 27th, 2002 12:12 amWe had a busy day. I've been wanting to finish up the basement cleanup job by moving computers from desktop into hutches and under desk computer castered holders. I've redone the computer setup, wheee! lots more room. SBCs in hutch not taking up a whole desk any more, all four x86 boxen off of desks. Its nice having room to write! *feeling so butch now*
We also decided that "Spirited away" would be a good movie to see. This was indeed a fine movie to see. But I do suggest seeing it late at night when there are no kiddies around. I'm not that much of a fan of kiddies asking "WHAT IS THAT MUMMY?" in the middle of my movies. *sigh* Yes, Walt Disneys influence has made it into more of a kiddies movie than it probably would have been had it just been done by Hayao Miyazaki, but it was hardly a "childrens" movie. The delightful quiet digs at americanised consummerism wasn't at all noticed by the kids.
Anyway, we also went to one of the Sock'n'Buskin amateur plays at Carleton U. Oh dear. "Women of Manhattan." We both summed it up as "I understood the play, but didn't understand the point." The acting was a little more amateurish than we have come to expect from Sock'N'Buskin, but I guess thats what happens with student run groups. Students tend to graduate and move on. Still, it was a nice night out.
